DELAWARE WATER GAP CANOE/KAYAK TRIP

This canoe and kayak outing is designed to be interesting for the experienced paddler and simultaneously safe and welcoming for novices.

Date: Saturday, October 18th, 2014
Time: 9:30am, approx 5 hour trip
Place: Chamberlain Canoes, Shawnee-on-Delaware PA

Autumn colors are already beginning to appear, and by mid-October the foliage display will be at peak in the Upper Delaware valley.  The Harvard Club of Princeton is pleased to sponsor its fall foliage canoe trip through the Delaware Water Gap, where the colors and dramatic landscape make for an especially vivid adventure.

The Delaware along this stretch is serene, with just a few Class I rapids to add to the adventure for first-time paddlers.  This year we will rendez-vous at Chamberlain Canoes in Shawnee-on-Delaware, Pennsylvania, at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014.  We expect the river course will take approximately five hours.

Both canoes and kayaks are available at Chamberlain’s, at prices that vary depending on the rivercraft you choose and our total number of participants.  Those with their own rivercraft may arrange its transport for a more modest portage fee.

Bring your own lunch and libations, as you are sure to get hungry!

This is strictly a fair-weather outing. In the event of serious rain over the Upper Delaware, we cancel. In case of doubt, call (609) 558-6862 (cell) the morning of October 18th.

Organizers: Jeff and Yuki Laurenti
Cost:  There is no fee for this event. Your only cost is the rental cost of your canoe/kayak (approx. $40)
Register: Please RSVP to Jeff and Yuki by e-mail (laurentijy@earthlink.net) by October 15th.
